Given that no catastrophic bugs were reported during past weeks isn't
the time ripe to merge 2.3.2-staging into 2.3.x to get testing for
this branch?

2.3.2-staging

2018-03-28 Thread Richard Kimberly Heck

I have gone ahead and marked all the bugs fixed in this branch as
"fixedinstable". Please do so as well with future commits. We can tell
these apart from the 2.3.1 bugs by the milestone.

Poll: change "foot x" too "fn x"

2018-03-28 Thread racoon
I'd like to get your take on an enhancement request for changing the
label for footnotes from "foot x" too "fn x". I think the latter is a
much more common abbreviation than the former.

Beamerposter Issues

2018-03-28 Thread Joel Kulesza
LyX Developers,

While working with the poster-beamerposter template to create ... a poster
... I ran into:

1) an issue whereby marking a region within the frame as "Comment" didn't
allow a PDF to render but marking it as "LyX Note" does allow the PDF to
render. I would expect these to have similar levels of
(dis)functionality. This seems like a bug and I would appreciate it if you
could confirm. If/when confirmed, I'll submit it to the tracker.

2) a non-obvious functionality omission whereby LyX List / Labeling
environments are not available in Beamer-based documents. Is there a
technical reason why this is not available (and if not, is it appropriate
to file an enhancement request to make it available)? I tend to prefer how
this behaves to the similar "Description" environment.

and while creating a MWE to demonstrate the first issue:

3) a special character insertion issue that seems unique to the
poster-beamerposter template whereby a "right arrow" can be inserted but
throws a warning upon render.

Some more details on these are in the attached MWE (expected to render
while throwing the right arrow warning). Changing either LyX Note within
to a Comment is expected to prevent rendering.

These observations are made with LyX 2.2.3 on OS X 10.11.6.

Any thoughts you can provide are appreciated.

Thank you,
Joel

Thanks for looking into this, Jean-Pierre. Note that after a tlmgr
upgrade I see the following test failures:

  6221 - export/templates/lettre_dvi3_systemF (Failed)
  6226 - export/templates/lettre_pdf4_systemF (Failed)
  6228 - export/templates/lettre_pdf5_systemF (Failed)

I see the errors when I run xelatex manually, seems en polyglossia problem,
I will investigate.

Jean-Pierre, did you have time to investigate? Anything you think we
should do for 2.3.0 on this? I have not tried to see if a tlmgr update
magically made these issues go away.

Sorry, I'm away from my desktop right now, ans I was busy with translations
before.
I will check when I'm back.

Sorry again, it took me some time to come back to this.

No problem, thanks for tackling this annoying issue.

There is a quite intricate problem with polyglossia in the additional preamble
code.

If I force babel as linguistic package, the three exports work manually.
However there are error/warnings from the dvi viewer which need further
investigation;

I might suggest to not even investigate dvi issues, if all PDF exports
are working well, unless you think it could be incorrect code written by
LyX.

Thes errors are font management errors, might disappear with other fonts than
FreeSans. I'll check later.

In your commit message could you give a few details and maybe link to
this ML thread? This way if someone in two years wants to know why babel
was forced (e.g. from git log lettre.lyx or git blame), they will
quickly find this discussion.

Oups, I put the link in the file itself, sorry.
