This class does not seem to recognize more than 1 author for me.
I tried even to enter the author line in tex but that still didn't work.
\author{myriam abramson \and somebody else}
What could be going on?

Okay, just to answer my own question, a
\institute{} in the layout preamble fixed it.
But I still have more problems with this class in another message that
I still didn't figure out.

Well, okay. the llncs class is just different. You need to enter an
institute and the author names separately. And if you have just 2
authors you have an and.
Why do I wait till the last minute and then need an answer in such a
