I have been very pleased using Lyx on RedHat 7.3 on my work PC over the last
6 months. I want to install it on my home computer which is Mac OS X 10.1.
I followed the directions listed on Herbert Voss's tips page and associated
links. I have installed fink, XFree86, Orobor, Tetex and Xforms.
As much as I enjoy working in LyX, whenever I have to insert a table
I cringe.

yes, Dekel is right. You don't also need l or r or c as a special latex
command in the tabular dialog, lyx has such command.
