I've been struggling for a long time to get poor-mans-bold working
(because of the pain installing luximono) and now I've got it working, I
post the answer here:
In your pre-amble:
\usepackage{amsbsy}
and then to have bold ttfamily text, \ttfamily\pmb{bold}
