JabRef and Lyx on Mac

Hi there, I am having troubles with JabRef 2.5 and LyX 1.6.4.1 running with MacTex-2009 on Mac OS X 10.6.2. I am new to these tools and the Mac platform, so I haven't ruled out the possibility that I am doing something wrong. Are you able to tell from the explanation of my problem below whether
