More class files by default

I have run into problems adding extra class files into my latex installation and getting them to work with lyx. (I know, install, run something to reconfigure latex, reconfigure lyx, but it is never smooth sailing for me) It may be nice to have a boatload installed by default or as an option.

You've probably done this already, but when you add a style or layout or anything to the /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/ tree, run the texhash program. The couple of times I have done this, my latex'ing time quadrupled for some strange reason, so the performance hit was frustrating. One
