No, lyxc.exe is LyX itself. The crash problem is fixed in 1.4.4-3.

I installed 1.4.4.-1 version of Lyx on Windows XP and I am getting
message that lyxc.exe has encountered a problems.
There is also a message thsi application has requested the Runtime to
terminate it in an unusual way.
