I use TextMate (which has a command line tool in /usr/local/bin).
So I set it to /usr/local/bin/mate and that works very well.
I did not need to use the --wait option or something like $$i, as once
the file is saved I have to click the "End Edit" Button.

The Oberdiek package has been changed, moving a number if packages out,

tried this but this could be what "Include only selected children" does.
I use the Child Document featrue on the "include" side exclusively, and
after editing a Child

could generate a specialize format which has all the packages used

(Linux) Libertine/Biolinum/Libertine Mono are supported by LyX (as
normal fonts, ie unclick "Use non-TeX fonts...")
Document -> Settings... -> Fonts
unsurprisingly, and the pulldown will show you whether they are
installed. If not
tlmgr install libertine
will sort
Just a minor nit, the dashrule package is required, which may need to be
installed manually :-)-O
