problems with bibunits

2004-09-09 Thread Wolfgang Kilian
Hello lyxers,
I want to make several small Bibliography-lists in one small document. So I thought
bibunits.sty might be the right thing to use.
 Unfortunately when typing as latex-code

\begin{bibunit}[unsrt]
bla bla bla \cite .
\putbib[/home/xyz/literatur/literatur2]
\end{bibunit}

\begin{bibunit}[unsrt]
bla bla bla \cite .
\putbib[/home/xyz/literatur/literatur2]
\end{bibunit}

I get in LyX nothing exapt in the second part the citations in the text with numbers.
If I export the LyX file to LaTeX and run several times (dont ask me exat the number)
latex then bibtexall and latex again then it works.

Is there a workaround for LyX

Thanks in advance

lyx and emacs key binding

2002-08-22 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

Hello dear Lyxers,
I've just compiled and installed Lyx 1.2.1 on my SuSE 8.0 System (after
making a link in /usr/X11R6/include/X11 like forms.h -
/usr/X11R6/include where the forms.h is
located).
After successfully finding where to change the key binding (not in the
~/.lyx/lyxrc file like stated in the german help file and in the
lyxrc.example but in the ~/.lyx/preferences - or via the
'preferences...' menu) I changed that to emacs style. Unfortunately
still with that key bindings after typing C-x-f for opening a file it is
not possible to select the file like in emacs (comparable to the shell
behavior). But there is that 'nice' menu coming which is not capable to
extend sub directories and file names like the bash does. Is there a
possibility to come to the nice command line like one has in the emacs?

Thanks in advance
Wolfgang

Re: Re: thanks and pstopdf-question

2001-05-31 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

Hello

I noticed the same problem when printing gs6.x generated
 pdf files to
postscript and non-postscript printers with acrobat reader in Windows.
The minus symbols were present on-screen though! No
 problems with
printing to postscript printers under Linux.

Every system is different. Without the '-Ppdf' the minus symbols were not present
on-screen

(Converters-Converters), with LyX 1.1.5fix1 this should
 be possible by defining
 \dvi_to_ps_command dvips -Ppdf

So is it simply putting this last line into /.lyx/lyxrc?

With this change, other problems are introduced! For
 example,
fi character sequences in normal text became a pound
 sterling sign

Conclusion: do not use gs_6.x for distributing LyX
 generated (through ps2pdf) acrobat documents

Yes I also got this ligature problem (fi, ff). But a friend of mine has already found
the solution.
In the 'config.pdf' file (in my system to be found in
'/var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/') there is the Letter 'G' which has to be commented out.
Then the ligatures come as they should and hopefully no other problems arise.

Will see if this ps-pdf thing will become transparent some day.

Greetings
Wolfgang

Re: Re: thanks and pstopdf-question

2001-05-30 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

OK thanks for the good tips,
I really tried hard and finally succeded in a certain way.

First off all sorry Herbert but the linebreaks in the e-mails I can't change.

I now installed gs_6.01 (which is quite a hard work for a non-programmer) and the pdf
files are nicely small. Also the text charakters are looking good. Is it really not
recomendable to use the latest gs_7.0 or the gs_6.5?
There is one strange thing left. When I export the document from Lyx to a ps-file and
then do ps2pdf all the minus symbols from math mode are gone?? When I export from Lyx
a DVI-file and then do dvips -Ppdf and after that ps2pdf everything seems to be OK.
So my question is how can I specifie this -Ppdf inside Lyx?

Sorry but thats all really nebulös for me.

Thanks
Wolfgang

Search for mathematical symbols?

2001-05-04 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

Hello all together,
mhhh I'm using Lyx 1.1.5.fix1 for writing my PhD thesis, work really nice. Now I have
the problem that I might have used different notations in different chapters for the
same unit. So I want to search for symbols which are in Math-mode. For example for a
'\omega_0' as it would look like in tex-mode. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks altogether

Lyx 1.1.5.fix2 on SuSE7.0 Problems

2001-03-03 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

Hello all you,
since I started to write my thesis on Lyx 1.1.5 an now on 1.1.5.fix1 on an old 200MHz
Pentium machine with SuSE Linux 6.3. I tried several installations on faster machines
with either the same Linux version or now with the 7.0 release.

On that 800MHz PIII machine with SuSE Linux 7.0 I installed Lyx 1.1.5.fix2 and it
seemed to work until I loaded an 'old' file from the Lyx 1.1.5.fix1 version on my old
computer. The one page documents get loaded but the pictures in figure floats are not
be drawn. When I try to load my thesis as far as it is written (from the disk which is
mounted via NFS) very short the title could be seen but then the whole KDE crashes and
goes to the login screen. When I copy the thesis document to a local directory
(without the pictures) the document is loaded but the chapters are badly renumbered.

I don't know what to change further (I have done reconfigure, I have copied the .lyx
directory from my old computer to the new one). If anyone knows what to try pleas let
me know.

Many thanks in advance

goes to the login screen.

Wolfgang

LYX 1.1.5fix2 with 0.89 of xforms?

2001-02-28 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

 Hello
I want to install Lyx 1.1.5fix2 on a SuSE linux 7.0 system which has as standart the
xforms 0.89. configure warns me and suggests to use 0.88. Are there known problems
with 0.89 such that it is really necessary to use 0.88.

 Thanks
Wolfgang

Speicherzugriffsfehler with lyx 1.1.5fix2

2001-02-18 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

 Hello again,
mhhh really strange. After the test with lyx 1.1.6.fix1 yesterday which made the
difficulties with installing I decided to try 1.1.5fix2 at my computer at home. This
worked very well.

Now I tried to install also lyx 1.1.5.fix2 here in my institute on a PentiumIII
500MHz, 512 MB ram computer with exact the same SuSE Linux 6.3.

Configure and compiling seemed OK. But when starting lyx I get the message
Speicherzugriffsfehler (maybe something like 'memory access error' in engl).

I also get the same message with the pre-installed lyx version from the SuSE
distribution (some 1.0.x Version). So it does not seem to do anything with lyx it
self. But anyway does anybody have a glue what the problem might be?

...

OK I thougt I had fixed it. I had to add the kernel parameter mem=512M. After that lyx
gave an error writing

lyx: SIGSEGV signal caught
Sorry, you have found a bug in LyX. If possible, please read 'Known bugs'
under the Help menu and then send us a full bug report. Thanks!
Bye.
Abgebrochen

But when netscape is running again I get the error
Speicherzugriffsfehler

OK I admit that this is more a system error but if anybody has a hint I will be glad.
 Thanks in advance
Wolfgang

Re: .eps file will not show up in lyx but will show up in ghostview

2001-01-26 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

Hello Anna and Dekel,

You can fix the problem in the eps file by running
  epstopdf Fig3.pdf
  pdf2ps Fig3.pdf Fig3.eps

(and the size of the result file is half of the original!)

I've also tried a little bit with the eps fiel. You are right after your
'process' the Fig3.eps is half the sice but no longer displyable (at
least on my system SUSE-Linux 6.3). The Fig3.pdf is nice, but Fig3.eps at
the end always clears the page at the end.

I'm quite sure that the real problem is in the original eps file itselfe
(which in fact does not disply yust the immage but the hole page).
With LYX1.1.5.fix1 I can include the orig. Fig and see it. With 'View
DVI' I get a reasonable output. But with view PS there is nothing
happening. With export PS and starting ghostview externaly I get after
the Fig is drawn the error:
Error: PostScript interpreter failed in main window.

So it seem for me that the PS-fiel has some strange commands at the end.
Unfortunately I'm not that familiar with PS-language. Maybe that the
person you've got the Fig3.eps may export it in a nother way.

I don't know if that helps anybody, but good luck

Wolfgang

Re: figure floats with text besides the picture

2001-01-05 Thread Wolfgang Kilian

Hello,
thanks very much for your excellent help. I don't know why I am not
able to do the [hb] by typing within the float (it always appears as text
also I changed to Tex-mode). But nevertheless it works by coppying your
exmple within Lyx.

I now have problems with the ispell for a german text. It seems that it
does not work with the umlaute. Is there a workaround?

So thanks again
Wolfgang
