The only way that I, personally, know of is Just to switch to that voice if you
have it downloaded and read the word, then switch back to whatever voice you
were previously using.

Yeah agreed. I really don't know the answer to that one. I'd say when you get
your mac or if you have one try it out. I know that it does not do auto
switching languages like in ios but that would require all 14 gigs of the
voices. Um? No! lol!

For extracting dvd content and putting it onto the hd, I use a
program called mac the ripper. It can do entire disks, or just the
tracks you want. It leaves them in vob format so you can use dvd
playing programs to view them from the hd, just as if they were still
on the dvd disk, only
I could, of course, be wrong but it's my understanding that there's far more to
this than simply enabling the audio services. You'd have to figure out the
VoiceOver side of it as well. Apple says it cannot be done, this has actually
been discussed with their engineers by quite a few people.
Actually this does work. If not, how could you recover a new Mac Mini? I have
done this several times. VoiceOver does work at that point.

Respectfully, it does not require visual help. I have done this several times
and this was on the new Mac Mini server machines. The recovery partition or
even the firmware-based restore facility are both accessible.

The key here is patience! If you have that scenario whereby there's no active
partition which will boot, you just need to enable an active Internet session,
turn on the machine, then leave it alone for about an hour. The machines will
go and get is OS from the Apple servers and, when you come
Hi Terry
The problem mysteriously and suddenly fixed itself! I have absolutely no idea
why this was happening, but it is not doing so now either with or without the
sidebar visible.
This, I guess, has to be written off and put down to one of those strange

Hi Sarah
As I said in my last post, it's just disappeared, works fine. Neither Lynne
nor I did anything to fix the problem. One minute it was broken and, just as
suddenly, it wasn't. But I ain't gonna complain, for once something happened
to cause the problem I had to just go away, and now
Hi Debbie
No problem, don't worry about it. For reference though, if there is more than
one destination address for a message in either the to: or CC field of a
message, it won't make the list. Implicit destinations are one of the many

Hi Sarah
you missed my point. DropBox is installed on 3 computers here using our
account and, therefore, the same E-Mail address. There are some folders we
don't want shared between all of the machines. That's my problem.

If they do, I think that it should be a user-controlled option. Personally I
don't like the choice and control being taken out of my hands.

Hi,
I'm living in Ireland and have just set up my macbook air. I use Karin on my
Iphone and I wanted to use her on my mac too.
Its not giving her to me as a voice option. Is it possible to download Karen
to use? Or is it region dependant.
Thanks, Brian.

archives hasn't thrown up the link to the new voiceover getting started app.
If someone could provide it, I'd be much obliged.

Hello Marcia, Sarah, Josh, and Others,
I think there is a way you can custom configure the date and time format for
your Mac, but it involves choosing one of the existing templates and copying a
format rather than trying to select and configure individual elements. I
