Selecting text and copying with Voiceover on the web is not great but the
following techniques may work.
1. Command A to copy all the page and command V to paste into Text edit.
The text should all be available easily then to copy and paste in the normal
way. I wish this is what happens in

Of course in technique 1 I forgot to insert command c to copy in-between
command A to select all and command V to paste.
Also I find in practice technique 2 copies elements that technique 3
struggles with. For some reason I struggle to copy headings with technique 3
for example.
Shift VO C
hey,
i have found another method to try.
setting my web roter to lines i can just hit shift and down arro and i can copy
many lines of text this way.
to me it seems to be the best unless there is tuns of text that wouldn't be so
good but i would try command A for that.
it's something i will play
Not sure if you got an answer to this but the command to move a file is:
mv (sourcefile) destination.
To check permissions on a file just use ls -l

Could you give an example of a page where this works? I have been trying to

such as BBC news.
The only text based rota options are for words and characters.

Hello David,
First of all, for lines to appear in the rotor of Quick Nav, which I assume is
what Michael is talking about, you need to have Lines checked in the Web Rotor
options in VoiceOver Utility. Then, I think the additional options only show up
if you have Single Key navigation enabled.
I have managed to sort this out.
Going to Voiceover utility I managed to set up lines in the web rota. You go
to web and then web rota and then check lines as the available item on the rota.
You are right that with lines enabled on the rota this becomes a far better
method for slecting and

Do any of you know of a good user-friendly iPhone app that is intended to
provide notifications to alert of weather warnings in the user's local area?
I would like to have alerts when the area that I am in is under a tornado
warning or severe storm warning, for example.
Thanks,

Hi Laurie,
My iPhone came with a weather app already in it, and there must be something
that does this automatically, because a couple of months ago, a bunch of my
co-workers and myself were working at a kid's camp, and everyone with an
iPhone was woke up at 4 AM with a blizzard warning.

Those are government alerts. but the app you might want to get is IMap weather
radio. as it does these kinds of things.

Hi Laurie,
Check out WeatherBug. It may do everything you're looking for. I know it has
an alerts section which I believe you can get to from the App's home screen.
Cheers!

Hi Sarah, Laurie, and Others,
There are two apps that I know of that give extreme weather warnings for the
U.S., and that have been recommended by VoiceOver users. One of them is iMap
Weather Radio, as Sarah suggested. The other is Weather Alert USA. At one
time, last July, I read a number

Hi Desi and Laurie,
WeatherBug is a nice app, and I think the Elite version of the app has
Dangerous Thunderstorm Alerts (DTAs) which monitors high winds, hail, tornadoes
and large volume rain rates. But I believe that you may have to subscribe to
their mobile alerts service ($2.99/month) to
Yes, iMap Weather Radio definitely woke me up a few times both for flood
warnings and high winds. I have this set to also monitor my father's location,
so I've had alerts for both areas, including during the period of Hurricane
Sandy.
