Hi, I'm setting up a new Tiger 10.4.11 machine, and I'd like to run
tripwire (as I used to do on my old Tiger machine). I installed the
latest Macports a few days ago, and tried installing tripwire with the
usual 'sudo port install tripwire' command. All the dependencies
download and build just
that guile
was already activated; I just tried the command later in the day and it
progressed through the problem.
Thank you for any advice you may have.

Can you show us the indecipherable output? Maybe one of us can
decipher it.
Thank you for your willingness to help. Here it is:
$ sudo port -f -n upgrade gnucash
Password:
--- Fetching gnucash
--- Verifying checksum(s) for gnucash
--- Extracting gnucash
--- Configuring gnucash

Thanks for the tip, Vince. I did this and now it is working again. I
guess what I learned from this is that if one has a problem with
top-level port A not loading dependent port B, clean and uninstall both
ports, and then re-install both ports.
