Confirmed that the workaround works for me. The one funny part is
that the default colors tab has “Use colors from system theme”
checked, which appears to be black on black - I need to uncheck that
before I see anything.
How do I fill out a ticket?

Thanks for your help. The plist file exists and it looks like it’s running,
but I still get the same error.
$ ls /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist
$ sudo launchctl list | grep -i dbus

then it dies with the error shown below. I’ve been through

dbus is running, but it’s having trouble with gnome-terminal.
Do you have any advice?

As Brandon has said, gnome
that dbus is running, but it’s having trouble with gnome-terminal.

As Brandon has said, gnome-terminal's backend factory is failing on
startup when started via dbus. However, it appears to work fine when
started manually. I think this is an upstream
of everything. When I run
gnome-terminal, it starts XQuartz if it’s not already running, but then it
dies with the error shown below. I’ve been through instructions on `port
notes dbus`, but it didn’t help. It seems that dbus is running, but it’s

discussion about the various versions of Xcode - I’m running Xcode
