Fair enough, but make sure you have a copy of what you need at least, when the time comes. To find the amount of space required for a backup, you can go to System Preferences, Time Machine, then press the Options button. In the dialog is listed, somewhere, the full amount of space required.

I would like to get all of the media that is in my iTunes library on to a 128 GB thumb drive, which I have. I see that there is an export under the library in the menu. But it looks like that might just be an XML file. At least the title says that it's an XML file. I want to export the media.
