Hi max,
The VoiceOver pronunciation dictionary doesn’t allow for punctuation in the
original phrase. I really wish it did.

Hi Pete,
There is lots of talk about iOS 18 including some degree of AI that will exist
on the device. It will be interesting to see if there are any benefits to blind
users above and beyond the benefits everyone else will get. However, we don’t
know which phones will support the new features.
Hi Brandon,
Open the VoiceOver Utility and select the Navigation category.
Then check that Mouse Pointer is set to "Ignores VoiceOver cursor”.

Not sure if this depends on how you have Mail setup, but I can move from the

Hi Donna,
Do you by any chance have Voice Dream Reader? If so, you may be able to use it
to export the text.
Open the pdf file in VDR, then go to the Document menu and choose “Export All
Text”

When I’ve checked my own Time Machine backups, the easiest way seems to be to

Hi,
Go to System Settings, Keyboard.
Interact with the scroll area and press the Keyboard Shortcuts button.
You should have 2 tables. In the side Bar table choose Function keys.
Stop interacting with the table and press VO+right and you should find what you
are looking for.

Hi All,
I want to be able to view the contents of a Zip file without having to extract
it first.
There are plenty of archiving apps in the App Store, but I'm wondering which
ones might work well with VoiceOver.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Simon,
I thought Easy Reader was free unless you need the premium features. I’ve just
checked the App Store and no price is shown for me.
There is also BookPlayer, though it was written for iOS and isn’t verified for

Hi Pete,
Using a Logitech K780, I can switch between devices using either F1, F2 or F3.
If I’m switching from my Windows laptop, then I need to hold down the FN key
with the Function key. If I’m switching from my iPhone back to the laptop,
then I can just press the Function key on its own.
Hi Jess,
I'm also new to the list, though I don't have a Mac yet. I'm planning on
getting myself a MacBook Air for Christmas. In the meantime, I'm already
getting useful info from the discussions on this list.
Hope your Mac experience goes well

Hi All,
I’ve just installed the latest Pages this morning, version 6.3 (5046) and
VoiceOver no longer announces text as it is selected.
Is anyone else noticing the same issue?
VO+F6 does still announce the selected text.

Hi All,
A new version of the Kindle software has just been released for the Mac. It
looks as though it should work with VoiceOver, but none of my books are showing

The book list is now recognised as a table by VoiceOver and there is a Text To

Hi Tyler,
As well as using search and replace as another lister suggests, you can set
TextEdit to save all files in the Windows format if preferred.
Go into TextEdit Preferences, choose the Open and Save tab, then look at the

Hi Robert,
Yep, same problem here.
If audio is playing, flicking up or down on the Audio Settings button stops the
audio and VoiceOver becomes more and more unresponsive as I try to flick around
the screen. This happened with both an MP3 file and a Daisy book.
