It’s almost funny how full circle we’ve gone. We started out years ago with
only specialized organizations having computers, smaller users sharing access
to the larger computers and then Woz and friends came
iTunes Match is great, but it’s no backup. At best it’s a network-based
storage extension mechanism for music stored on iOS, owned and controlled
exclusively by Apple. Whether or not this is a good thing thus clearly depends
on your need for extra space. Right now, until I’ve got rid of my
