This is only true if you disregard maemo installation instructions -- at least I have not found the recommended 0.9.8 versions available at the scratchbox.org repository. I wonder if there are any real problems with maemo and scratchbox 1.0.x? I haven't seen any so far... If no-one comes up with horror stories about using 1.0 for maemo development, maybe the recommendation could be upgraded -- it would make installation easier (damping the culture shock for new developers) and give everyone access to the new features*.
