right now the described notification is not meant to be used by 3rd
party developers. Please try to follow the instructions of the HIG [1]
on how to display information to the user. I don't know what you want to
achieve, but I guess a banner could be the right way to do it.

In Diablo, getting a notification to popup in the bottom-left corner
(e.g. Modest's new mail notifcations) could be simply done using the
libnotify API as-is. However, in Fremantle, this does not appear to be
the case any more (from what I can tell, anyway) and I was wondering
