I recently reopened a list for my wife's business. I have a few of my own
lists. I NEVER get any unsolicited postings to my list, which has been up a
few weeks, yet after 2 days of starting my wife's list, I am getting
spammed, hosed and slammed by all sorts of dubious posts.
Is there something
Mark:
I made the changes that Lucaz mentioned, with the two files, replacing them
and now mailman SEEMS to be working. It is sending out to my list anyway.
I am not sure that everything is working quite right though so I'll test
things more, for a few days.

Mark:
Patrick has pretty much covered it. If you want another view, see
http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2006-October/054114.html.
This is in the context of moving lists, but the directories and files
would be the same.
However, I *think* you should be able to reinstall
Just for curiosity's sake, what would happen if one were to backup one's
list files, purge mailman and then reinstall, and move the list files back?
Might this revive a system running on debian, which is currently broken?

AFAIK, my mailman failure to send out issue, resides solely at the pathway
from mailman - exim. All other email traffic, i.e., exim-mailman and all
other email traffic, seems to work just fine.
I have included the debug line in my SMTPDirect.py file, and yet nothing
shows up in
What might cause really slow processing of email sent to a list? I set up a
new list yesterday around 4:00 pmdidn't receive any response, until this
morning, I noticed that around 7:00 pm, the mail finally arrived.

For some reason, after a recent nightmare with a hosed partition table, my
system which had a working Mailman 2.1.5 version on it, now refuses to
connect to exim4 and get my mail out to my lists.
Here's a snippted from /var/log/mailman/smtp-failure. I have no idea what
these things mean but

Dear List:
I sent a message to one of my lists today, and after receipt of the mail, I

Here's my dilemma. I get tons of SPAM/PHISHING attacks at my email inbox. I
am tired of deleting so much crap every day.
I have SA and clamav installed, but perhaps I don't have them configured.
Would anyone here be willing to share their mix of tools and how they
implement them to fight this.
I operate a mailing list to issues updates and information to my patients.
The list is fully moderated, disallowing anyone to post without review.
Occasionally, I get some patients who respond back to something I send, and
I want to post their response, but I'd like to have it post with the
I can't see any icons, just the placeholders and labels for them, when I
open Mailman.
How do I direct Apache2 and Mailman to see where the icons reside so that
Mailman can properly display them?

What controls icons and whether they display or not? It seems that when I am
at my office, the three icons at the bottom of the mailman admin page
display, but when accessing it remotely, they do NOT display.
Also, where is the icon for the URL, which is supposed to display when

Dear list:
When I set up Mailman 2.1.5 on my Debian 3.0 system, I also set up
