I found an app, _MultiMarkdown Composer_, which though **not** as
powerful as a full-blown text editor, does do the markdown easily. It
costs $11.99 at the AppStore. Using Command-b and Command-i surrounds
the selection with double asterisks or underscores. If there is no
selection, it simply
BBEdit is the most powerful text editor I know. Multimarkdown composer is good
but nothing like BBEDit. Its unique virtue seems to be a markdown-opml import
export.
There's a 'BBEdit lite' called Textwrangler which is free but doesn't have all
the power.

I have it. I'm not a huge fan of it. It does automate some stuff, but it feels
a little clunky
