It's a known missing feature that MailMate does not make plain text
My wife is trying MailMate using her gmail account. After downloading
messages in MM, she started Apple Mail to check something and that
application automatically downloaded the same messages that MailMate
did. Her Apple Mail account uses POP, and is set to delete messages
after one week.
