Andreas has sent me copies of all the versions of MakeMaker from 5.42 (the
version which came with 5.4.2(?)) all the way back to the first(?) release from
Sept 9th, 1994 which predates the version in 5.0.0 by a month. I've also
added all the tarballs since I tookover (5.48_01 - 6.05). That still leaves
a pretty large hole of almost five years of MakeMaker patching as part of
the perl core (5.4.2 - bleadperl@14303).

They're now mirrored at http://www.makemaker.org/src/MakeMaker-history/ for
your archeological pleasure.

Also, anonymous CVS access to the MakeMaker repository is back up.
Instructions are on the site.

For anyone with a handful of round tuits available and an unhealthy
knowledge of CVS, it would be very useful if the existing CVS repository
could be backfilled with all the old versions, including the ones in 5.4.2
through bleadperl@14303, to make digging around for who/why things are
written the way they are. That way we have a complete version history for
browsing and that makes it easier to find the relevent p5p thread about
whatever we're looking for. If anyone wants to take a swing at this I can
give you an archive of the raw RCS files for the current generation.
