For future problems, I can recommend the FireBug plugin for Firefox or the debugger in IE8 (Press F12). Using either tool, you can set a breakpoint in your JS code, and once paused, you can inspect the variables avalible. You can then easily see what parent and opener points to, and this should

WebStudio has not been fully developed, and has not been maintained for quite a while. It has been removed from the forthcomming 2.1 release due to this. The only alternative tool is MapGuide Maestro (Studio is no longer avalible for MGOS users): http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/maestro

Yes, I really disliked that sales strategy since I was often recommending to my MapGuide Open Source customers that they buy Autodesk Studio. That approach by customers was probably one of the primary reasons for Autodesk's rationale and they also needed some way to further separate MapGuide

keep in mind mysql is a limited spatial implementation and it only supports MBR type spatial queries the sqlLite fdo is rumoured to be much better performance wise than SHP/SDF especially because you can add non spatial indexes which sdf/shp do not have if you using filters on your layers,
