[mapguide-users] Security on layers or featureSource

2007-11-07 Thread Bruno Scott

Actually when we set a no access permission on a layer definition for a given
user
and we open the map referencing this layer (using the same user ) we got
this message :

Permission denied to resource:
Library://Samples/Sheboygan/Layers/Districts.LayerDefinition
Permission denied to resource:
Library://Samples/Sheboygan/Layers/Districts.LayerDefinition Exception
occured in method MgResourceHeaderManager.CheckPermission at line 2497 in
file
c:\build_bond_area\mapguide_open_source_v1.2\build_18.1\mgdev\server\src\services\resource\ResourceHeaderManager.cpp

I know that is the intended behavior
But it would be great if the mapgudie server remove the layers with no
access on the fly.
This would gives Administrator a very high level of flexibility on
controling the security.

Just by setting security permissions on some layers or featureSource we
could control
what a specific user can see in any map

2007-11-07 Thread Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S
I can see why this could be usefull, but I can see situations where it
would be troublesome to detect why a layer won't render.
If you haven't already done it, you can create a ticket on Trac and
request it as an enhancement.

[mapguide-users] Mapguide tiling

2007-11-07 Thread azpublic
Dear all,

I was wondering if someone could give some examples on how to use tiling
from within mapguide.

The idea is to pre-generate my tiles for various zoom levels and then access
these tiles from within a client app (not Mapguide Ajax viewer).

Any help on how the tiling engine works on mapguide will be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

[mapguide-users] XP crashes mapgude service

2007-11-07 Thread (G) Sergio Libman
Thanks Keneth,

The matter is that when i install everything works ok, the services are
running and I can do administrator tasks, connect by MapGuide Studio and all
php works fine, defining the server as localhost:8700 or 127.0.0.1:8700/.

I´ve tried all the common and basic tasks and it works.

I´ve reinstalled about 10 times and is always the same error and did not
find anything about this in all documentation and forums.

When I restart the system or the service MapGide Enterprise2008 generates a
windows error and stops inmediatly.

I´ve contacted Autodesk support and they suggest a post to osgeo (¿?).

Could you explain me what can fail in config file? May be another
application that causes the problem?

Thanks in advance

And, when this happens the user gets no map at all, only the error
message. What _should_ happen is that the server should log the error
message but send the map with all other valid layers to the user with no
indication of the missing layer(s). The current system leaks potentially
sensitive information (the layer names of restricted layers) to the user.

I too expected to be able to just assign permissions to the layers (or any
other object) and have the server transparently return only what was
permitted for that user. Perhaps we need to submit an enhancement request?
although I tend to think of the current behavior as a bug.

Hi Brian,

Let me know if it still fails.

Can I get you to clock it as well?

I am interested in how long it runs as well as the number of tiles
before it
loses connectivity.

Is the server service still active? Or do you need to restart or
reboot?

I have a separate server that I was able to dedicate to making tiles. I
just checked the settings and it looks like on this machine I only
changed the ConnectionTimeout. I set it to 120 even though the
comments in the ini file state the max is 86400 ( 24 hours). I ran the
tiling engine for one zoom level for about 26 hours so I am not sure if
86400 is really a limit. This produced just over 145000 tiles. The
server is 3.00Ghz Pentium D with 1GB ram running windows 2003.

I believe the simple answer is that you cannot delete (or update) a joined
feature. You need to do the delete from an un-joined source.

RE: [MapGuide-users] FMTilingEngine Raster

2007-11-07 Thread Berdel, Brian
I was able to get them to tile correctly...But now the performance is
actually worse and it locks up the client machine, when I turn the
aerials on...
It actually seems as though the performance on my map is worse when I
have my Aerial layer set as a base layer rather then a regular
layer...Anyone experience this, or have any suggestions? This is true
whether using the tiling engine or not. But it seems a little worse with
the cache in place.

My test servers are a wee bit slower :)

I will release an updated build at the bottom of the month with the

Brian,

What Operating System/Processor and RAM configuration are you running
under?

Under test conditions, if too many requests are made to the server it
will
lock up the service. The Engine will try to restart the service if this
is
encountered but services can sometimes be fickle.

I have a fixed delay set - but maybe I should expose this as a setting
in
the config so that it can be tweaked in cases like this. No guarantee
that
it might fix the issue, but it is the only culprit I can see at this
point.

Let me know how critical this issue is - I am tied up on some other
projects
for the next week.

Cheers,

I'm not sure what you mean by xp is not supported, I have many

Did you contact Autodesk, as you are running the Enterprise edition?

Did you change permissions on any files or the service?
It would appear that it fails to read the config file.

RE: [mapguide-users] See the entire tooltips

2007-11-07 Thread Andy Morsell
I have this problem as well and it varies based on whether using IE or
Firefox. IE behaves fine when floating over objects near the top, left, or
right. In this case, it automatically positions the popup properly so the
whole tooltip is displayed. But, at the bottom, the tooltip popup is
truncated at the bottom. Firefox behaves the same way, but has other
problems with objects on the right: long tooltip strings may be truncated
whereas IE will wrap them. I just submitted a Trac ticket for this defect.

[mapguide-users] excessive slowness in server response (on linux)

2007-11-07 Thread François Van Der Biest

Hi all,

Having successfully built Mg on a minimal Ubuntu system, I'm now trying
to add some basic data using the webstudio app, but I find everything
operates very slowly.

For instance, it took at least 20 seconds for the server to respond to
this basic request :

http://localhost:8008/mapguide/mapagent/mapagent.fcgi?OPERATION=ENUMERATERESOURCESVERSION=1.0.0LOCALE=enRESOURCEID=Library://TYPE=DEPTH=-1

During that time, the console in which I launched the server process
showed many lines like this one :

(6985|3022325456) MgClientHandler::handle_input()

and finished with :

I don't think this is normal on a rather decent machine (INTEL Centrino
1,6GHz, 1Gb RAM).

Does anyone have any clue of what's happening here ?

Re: [mapguide-users] XP crashes mapgude service

2007-11-07 Thread Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S

Do you get any messages in the log file?

It may be related to the log files, alternatively are there any license
issues?

Thanks Keneth,

The matter is that when i install everything works ok, the services
are running and I can do administrator tasks, connect by MapGuide
Studio and all php works fine, defining the server as localhost:8700
or 127.0.0.1:8700/.

I´ve tried all the common and basic tasks and it works.

I´ve reinstalled about 10 times and is always the same error and did
not find anything about this in all documentation and forums.

When I restart the system or the service MapGide Enterprise2008
generates a windows error and stops inmediatly.

I´ve contacted Autodesk support and they suggest a post to osgeo (¿?).

Could you explain me what can fail in config file? May be another
application that causes the problem?

Thanks in advance

Sergio

I've been using Studio 2008 on MGOS 1.2RC2 for a few weeks now and I
 haven't had any major issues.

 Hi,

I am attempting to take MGOS 1.2 RC2 for a spin. Is connection from
 Mapguide Studio 2008 Enterprise (1.2.0.4103) to MGOS 1.2 RC2 a
 supported
configuration? I keep getting Cannot connect to the specified site
 URL

errors both on port 80 and 8008.

Login thru mapadmin/login.php has been succesufully done.
