Re: [mapguide-users] SDF convertion question

You could try using FDO Toolbox (http://fdotoolbox.googlecode.com) connecting
to the text file via the ODBC Provider (see examples here:
http://www.connectionstrings.com/textfile) and bulk copy it to a new SDF. I
haven't actually tried this approach myself, so your mileage may vary.

RE: [mapguide-users] External SHP file Refresh?

2008-12-17 Thread Dave Wilson
I could be wrong, but I think the issue is with the connection and cached data.
Updating (and I mean saving, not just previewing) the Data Connection in Studio
attempts to drop any current connection data that are cached in the server
because they are now out of date. The save should be part of the magic. You may
be able to execute a save programmatically and achieve the same thing.

Thanks Dave,
that is true, the SHP does appear when refreshing within Studio Preview
window, but it is still not available to the code. I wonder if there is a
SESSION based version of a Data Preview "refresh" so that I can see the new
shp file in the Alias folder...

[mapguide-users] CS-map question

2008-12-17 Thread mates

I noticed that Proj4 will be replaced by CS-map in the upcoming release of
MGOS. I plan a bigger project and i need to be sure that my coordinate
system will be supported under CS-map in MGOS 2.1. Now,using Proj4,there is
everything fine. The EPSG is 102065 or 102067. I didn't find it in this list
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/PROJ4toCS-MAP
This coordinate system wasn't available immediately after installation in
MGOS 1.2 - 2.0.2.. I had to add a definition to epsg file in nad folder. So
maybe there is a way to add it to CS-map like i did in PROJ4. Honestly, i'm
not really familiar with this SRS stuff so maybe i'm talking trash :-D
I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you!

Open your Data Connection and save it again. You could preview to ensure it
picks up the new files first. This assumes of course you have MG Studio. Not

Hi all,
I know that one has to restart the server to see the new External File
Alias, but is this true for additional files added to that folder?

How does one refresh the Data Connection to that folder to see the new file?

My workflow:
1. User uploads a SHP/DBF/PRJ file into the Aliased folder on the server.
2. Programatically connect to the SHP Data Connection that points to that
folder.
3. Loops over the Features, harvesting coordinates for inserts into Oracle
Spatial (using Bind Variables with PHP).

Everything works if I restart the service, but I really need to upload the
SHP and then use the Data Connection to use the Feature Reader to get the
geometries.
(I know I can use the SHPLIB outside of MapGuide...but I really like
MapGuide!).

Can anyone suggest another way? Do I really have to restart the service to
see the new SHP files in the folder? I thought I only had to restart for
new Aliases, not files within them..

regards,
gordon

The check for existing items is always empty excepts if i call the

[mapguide-users] SDF convertion question

Hi,
I wonder if there's a way to create sdf3 files from a text file (SDF loader
from mapguide 6.5 allows to create sdf files from text reading coordinates

Or ¿can i use sdf loader from 6.5 and then use map to export this sdf2 into

anyway, the update on the GDAL issue is that the Autodesk team looked
into it and couldn't
reproduce it, so i created a proper test case for it, which they were
able to reproduce the problem with
but they had used up the allocated time for the issue so we are still
waiting on that one

apparently steve is going to look into it again in the new year

the moral of the story is to always file really good clear test cases! :)

Harris, good stuff mate!, it's definitely improved a lot!

SDF still seems to be at least 25% faster lighter datasets were much
better, the heavier datasets
still did slow down a lot more

I was testing the same data written out via FDO2FDO in SDF fro Oracle

I did end up getting the classic old "an unclassified exception
occurred" in mappingutil.cpp line 768
after a while, I'm using the latest king oracle version off your site with 2.0.2

Dennis, I have no idea what your on about?

If you get a new sessionid, that means that the "CreateSession" is being
called.
Then the check for existing items will look in the new session, which is
always empty?

You don't have to remove the buttons.

Right under the field where you select what map to use,
there is a bunch of checkboxes. Remove the check mark in those.
(Above the list of commands).

Don't give up on Oracle and databases :)

King.Oracle is much faster now and no big difference to SDF, it seems
there are some problems with provider and DescribeSchema (and perhaps

Re[mapguide-users] quest for change the status bar to reflect the layer selected

2008-12-17 Thread Bruno Scott

Actually, the status bar in the ajax viewer only shows the amount of features
selected.
It would be great if it showed the name of the selected layer also.
If there is many features selected on different layers, the behavior stays
the same as actually.

The modification is trivial
In the mainframe.templ
instead of having
if(hasStatusbar == 1)
 sbFrame.SetFeatureSelectedMsg(FormatMessage((selCount > 1?
"__#FEATURESSELECTED#__": "__#FEATURESELECTED#__"), new Array(selCount,
"unused")));

we would have this
if(hasStatusbar == 1)
{
var selLayers = GetMapFrame().GetSelectedLayers();
if(selLayers.length == 1)
{
  sbFrame.SetFeatureSelectedMsg(FormatMessage("__#LAYERSELECTED#__",
new Array(selCount, selLayers[0].legend)));
}
else
{
  sbFrame.SetFeatureSelectedMsg(FormatMessage((selCount > 1?
"__#FEATURESSELECTED#__": "__#FEATURESELECTED#__"), new Array(selCount,
"unused")));
}
}

i will create a ticket for this one

Re: [mapguide-users] Problem opening a webLayout with predefined selection

2008-12-17 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S

Nice idea.
You could do the same with the runtime map, which would ease the
pre-creation/modification of maps.

If the user presses the reload button, the map would stay the same, as
would the selection.

Is this a problem, and do you have and idea for a workaround?

Bruno Scott skrev:

I could propose a patch to fix that problem
The idea would be to verify if the Session://...MapDefinition exist
If it already exist, do not overwrite

Something like this
bool mapStateIdExist = true;
MgResourceIdentifier mapStateId = new
MgResourceIdentifier("Session:" + sessionId + "//" + mapName + "." +
MgResourceType.Map);
try
{
  MgByteReader tmpReader =
resourceSrvc.GetResourceContent(mapStateId);
}
catch(MgException mge)
{
  mapStateIdExist = false;
}

Then use the mapStateIdExist flag

//if MapStateId exist, we should not erase the selection
if(!mapStateIdExist)
{
  //create an empty selection object and store it in the session
repository
  MgSelection sel = new MgSelection(map);
  sel.Save(resourceSrvc, mapName);
}
and

//if MapStateId exist, we should not overwrite it
if(!mapStateIdExist)
{
  map.Save(resourceSrvc, mapStateId);
}

ODBC connections can be to CSV files:

The OGR provider can also connect to CSV files (as well as TAB files):

Re: [mapguide-users] Show Multiple Properties for selection

2008-12-17 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S

There is a "One to many" / "Many to many" property on the FeatureSource.

But as I understand it, joins are meant to supplement a feature with
additional attributes.
If my understanding holds, you can never have multiple rows attached to
a single feature,

and I am pretty sure that the viewer won't show it.

If you obtain the join key, you can select the rows from the database,
and display them.
That will be much easier than trying to get the viewer to display these
extra rows.

I am using MG 2.0. Using MapGuide Studio 2009 I've made a data connection
using the ODBC connection FDO (Connect via a DNS, connected to SQL Server
database). The connection works (I am having some performance issues, but
that belongs in another post). Next, I've joined this data using a
one-to-many join with a SHP file (table from the shp file is the primary and
data in the database is secondary). The join seems to work ok. However,
when I use the standard Select tool, the properties pane will only show one
of the records in the database, I believe the first entry. I want to
display all of the records in the joined table.

Does anyone know how I can display multiple records in the properties pane?
I am using the standard ajax viewer. Perhaps there is something to change

in the "ajaxmappane.templ" file? I've possibly found some code around line
2582 that perhaps can be manipulated? Sorry, I am not much of a programmer,
so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: [mapguide-users] Missing samples for ASP.NET

2008-12-17 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S

The answer is:
No one has created them yet!

It is fairly easy to convert the samples, and I suspect that some people
have,

but unfortunately noone has contributed the results back.

Perhaps the Scribble application has some of the stuff you are looking for:
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/CodeSamples/ASP.Net/ScribbleApp

If you (or others) convert the samples, please consider posting the
results here:
