I'm having quite the same problem, so I think to check which is the Provider
for the FeatureClass I'm Searching and then apply the Sort filter or not.
But I can not find a way to understand which is the Provider of a given
layer or FeatureClass.

I tried successfull to add Google Maps as baselayer on a mapguide Fusion
layout, and configure with my API key.
The problem is that google basemap and mapguide get disaligned when loading
and after pan the google layer does not move properly and remain always
stucked or not aligned.
