I have tried to write just such a facility, but unfortunately you cannot
access the information about a thematic layer programmatically. Look on
the wish list for the item about a request for a function that you could
run and it would return information about the thematic settings of a layer,

I have had this problem on a couple of occasions now and I am hoping
someone can tell me what exactly is going on. I have a map with several
layers, the majority being from a .dwg file containing base mapping
recieved from an outside source and one layer which was digitized in

John,
I am not sure if there is a shorter way of doing this - here what I would
do:
1. In MapInfo, go to Table Export {Select save as type: dBASE DBF
(*.dbf)}
2. In Microsoft Excel, open this (*.dbf) file and save it as Microsoft Excel
Workbook (*.xls)
3. In Microsoft Word, open (*.xls) file
Bonjour,

Hi John
Probably the best way is to export the table to a .dbf file (Table | Export,
select dBase as file type), open the .dbf in Excel, fix whatever was lost in
the process (all fonts, etc), copy your newly formatted Excel spreadsheet
and then paste / past special it into Word. Unless you have
Recently I have written a programme to find the open tables and
it will send to excel (in DBF format) later you can save it the
way you want, here is the code :
(The only change you need to do is location of Excel and Temp
directory , if required)

Include "mapbasic.def"
Declare Sub

Kim,
very likely your tables are in a bounded coordinate system, which means that
you can't draw beyond the bounds of the table. You can check and set those
bounds with a tool called CoordSysBounds.MBX that ships with MapInfo5.5.
Good Luck,
Andreas

Is it possible to directly import rectified images created with Erdas
Imagine into MapInfo 5.0? I would to import the image and retain the

In Mapinfo
Go to Table menu Export
Export Table as .txt (Save as Type pull down) to convenient folder / path
Be sure to check the "Use First Line For Column Titles" and "Tab Delimited"
(Next dialogue box after above)
In Excel
Open the .txt file just created and Save as Excel work book

Hello All,
I was interested in generating point X and Y
coordinates in a random fashion within
a polygon, which would be what the dot density
thematic function does in MI. The difference is
that I would like to be able to see the coordinates
of such random placed points for further processing.
Trying to save a map window as a jpeg w/o a border. Possible?
You can add a registry entry "ExportBorder" which controls whether
or not to include the border when exporting the contents of the window.
If the value is "0", the border will not be exported. If the value
is "1" or the registry
