Hi Jeff,
Is there any update on the 8.2 release?
Is the process still using
https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/blob/main/scripts/release/release.sh to
create the releases (including beta candidates), or is there an updated
approach?
Thanks,
Seth

+1 on a feature-freeze for 8.2.
A new renderer will need tests/docs so would push things out, plus it would be
a good feature to drive an 8.4 release (assuming development is completed).

Hi all,
There has been so much activity lately, that it seemed better to wait
until the changes were completed/committed. I haven't started the
release candidates process for that reason. I am going to also include
a MapCache release during this same effort. (it's great to see Bjorn's
Hi,
IMHO we should freeze with what we have already ready in master,
especially now that all items that were marked in scope for 8.2 during
the last meeting are completed, to avoid further delays.

Hi all,
I'm assuming the release date for 8.2 won't be the end of March date listed in
the wiki at [1].
The Skia Renderer pull request that had a few updates this week [2] - are we
planning to wait for this for the 8.2 release? Has anyone been in contact with
Bjorn about it?

I do have a proposed fix locally and I just need to prepare a pull request.
Been sitting on it for some time now, just limited on time... I did have a

I removed RFC 123 / MapML from the list. This PR is no longer being
worked on.

Hi Seth,
I think we should go ahead with the final 8.2.0 release, even without
those items you mentioned (as so much effort has been already put into
the release, as tracked by that release page that I've been
maintaining). I propose the following schedule:
- Feature freeze: Fri.

- I'm not sure the MapML support is actively being worked on (it has been in
the last few release plans)?
