OGC Compliant for which spec? You'd have to be more specific. MapServer 5.6 (currently in beta) passes all the tests for WMS 1.1.1 and 1.3.0 and we plan on getting the formal certificates from OGC after the 5.6 release. So today, even though we pass all the tests (and have for several releases), MapServer is only Implementing and in a few weeks it will be Compliant for those two specs. Tests are also underway for several other specs. RE: [mapserver-users] OGC Compliance
Thanks Daniel. Actually, we are conducting a free Open Source training program in Chennai (India) particularly on MapServer and Quantum GIS in order to promote Open Source technologies. Since GeoServer already has a Certified OGC Compliant mark on its website, my audience might ask a question Why not MapServer? I am not sure what should I answer them. Your help on this is highly appreciated. Thanks, Ela. -Original Message- From: Daniel Morissette [mailto:dmorisse...@mapgears.com] Sent: Thursday, October 08, 2009 6:43 PM To: Elavazhagan. Re: [mapserver-users] OGC Compliance
My answer to them would be that MapServer has passed the CITE tests for WMS 1.1.1 for several releases but we just didn't get the paperwork done to get the official stamp from OGC. MapServer 5.6 also passes the tests for WMS 1.3.0 and we plan on getting the official certificate from OGC after the 5.6 release, so the project should have the Certified OGC Compliant mark on its website in the coming months. WFS and WCS are another story, GeoServer has them, but we still need work to pass all the tests so that won't be in 5.6. Daniel Elavazhagan. M wrote: Thanks Daniel.
