WANTED: EXPERIENCED MARINE MAMMAL PERSONNEL

 

The Marine Team (www.marineteam.com) is looking for suitably qualified personnel for contracts offshore. This involves recording marine mammal sightings and to ensure that oil exploration activities comply with environmental guidelines issued by the governing bodies.  This work is vessel based and most contracts last 4-6 weeks. Daily rates of pay depend upon location and contract.

 

The following personnel are required:

 

  • Marine Mammal Observers 
  • Passive Acoustic Monitoring Operators

 

MARINE MAMMAL OBSERVERS

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

  • Degree in biological or environmental science, preferably marine biology
  • Experience of working on whale watching vessels or marine mammal research vessels
  • Ability to work in a team

 

PASSIVE ACOUSTIC MONITORING OPERATORS

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

  • Degree in biological or environmental science, preferably marine biology
  • Experience of working with passive acoustic monitoring equipment
  • Experience of marine mammal acoustic detection and analysis
  • Ability to work in a team

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH POSITIONS

(If you have not completed these courses please still apply as these can be easily obtained)

 

  • Offshore medical certificate
  • Offshore survival training
  • Accredited marine mammal observer training
