I meant to advertise this interview much earlier. My friend Mick Healy has been doing a series of interviews with veteran left-republicans in Ireland. These have gone up on the blog I do - the irish revolution - and, more recently, Mick, with the help of his daughter, has started his own Irish Marxist/republican history site. I have done a tiny bit of work, like helping with questions once or twice, but basically it's Mick's project. Anyway, here is the first part of a video interview with Jim Lane. Jim is a fascinating character. He was in the IRA in the late 50s/early 60s, then started a Cork-based group called Saor Eire (not to be confused with a Dublin-based group of the same name, which involved Irish Trotskyists and ex-IRA figures). Later, Jim and some of the Cork Saor Eire people started another project called the Cork Workers Club which reproduced some excellent pamphlets of material by Connolly and various other folks from the early 1900s. Jim was also a driving figure in the Revolutionary Armed Forces, a small left-republican group in Cork in the later 1960s, which produced a paper called *An Phoblacht* (not to be confused with the later Provos' paper of the same name). Anyway, here's the first video from the series Mick did with Jim: https://theirishrevolution.wordpress.com/2013/08/09/interview-with-jim-lane-veteran-socialist-republican/ Phil _________________________________________________________ Full posting guidelines at: http://www.marxmail.org/sub.htm Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
