It is, I suspect, because of their link to nationalism that Ali ( & co)
would prefer to talk of Syriza and Podemos. Ireland has always been
something of a blind spot for the British Left and in particular the NLR
circle (& the Tafftites and the ISO). We have now in Ireland a mass
response to austerity, just as we have in Scotland. They deserve not to be
dismissed, for who knows whether in the medium term they may not play as
decisive and progtressive a role as that of of the radical Keynesians of
Syriza.
