Twain's radical sympathies were quite known within the movement.  Over the
years, he had contact on and off with any number of figures associated with
the Left.

The essay on Archimedes, published in the Henry George newspaper, The
Standard in 1889 was widely believed to have been his, though I think it's
rather doubtful.  A close approximation of his style, and possibly of his
views.
