BURN! HOSTNAME RESTORED; NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE
____________________________________________________________________

June 16, 2000

BURN!'s hostname has been restored to UCSD campus DNS servers.

http://burn.ucsd.edu now points to the mirror maintained at
http://tierra.ucsd.edu by the Groundwork Collective. Discussions continue
concerning BURN's eventual return to the communication department.

BURN! and Groundwork warmly thank the hundreds of people who wrote letters
on behalf of BURN!. It was your solidarity that convinced the university to
restore our hostname.

We are also grateful to our friends in the UCSD Communication Department
and elsewhere who stand with us, and are willing to confront the censors.

This isn't over yet, by any means. There is still a great deal to be
resolved. But thanks to you, we are now reachable once again at our old
hostname.

Please stay tuned!

Yours in struggle,

The BURN! Collective
