Without going into detail, we found these to be helpful:
a. Digital object has value to the institution
b. Digital object must be managed for access and rights.
c. Digital object is a master - not work in progress or derivative
d. Digital object must be searchable and found in many ways - good
As a photographer, I did once have a contract from a US publication
that required rights something along the lines of throughout the
known and unknown universe... I'm pretty sure I didn't keep it
though (needless to say I didn't sign it either:-) )
