Upcoming Saturday May 21st a Proton M/Breeze M rocket with payload DIRECTV 8 communications satellite for DIRECTV, Inc., is scheduled for launch from Launch Pad 39, Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.

Launch is scheduled for 1:59 p.m. EDT.

Spacecraft Separation is approximately 9 hours, 15 minutes after liftoff

DIRECTV 8 is a Loral 1300 platform built by Space Systems/Loral with 16 Ku-band transponders, 226 watts and Ka-band payload to link broadcast facilities.
DIRECTV 8 will be located at 101 degrees West.


Satellite Broadcast coverage:

Intelsat Americas 6 at 93°W, transponder 11 C-Band (3920 V) analog

Test signals begin about 1:15 p.m. EDT.
Broadcast starts about 1:35 p.m. EDT.
