This upcoming Thursday morning (6-23), Sea Launch is scheduled to launch Intelsat Americas 8 (Telstar 8 to most of us) communications satellite for Intelsat on a Zenit-3SL rocket from the

Odyssey Launch Platform positioned on the equator in the Pacific Ocean.
Launch window opens at 8:58 a.m. EDT.

Spacecraft separation 29 minutes after lift off.

Intelsat Americas 8 has 28 C-band and 36 Ku-band transponders, as well as 24 Ka-band spot beams. Built on Space Systems/Loral's (SS/L)1300 bus, the spacecraft has a total end-of-life power of 16 Kw. IA-8 is a replacement for Telstar 4 at 89 degrees.
This is Sea Launch's fifth mission for Loral and the first with Intelsat.
