The 230SL was the first of that body style. As the car evolved into the 250 and 280SL is got more and more advanced equipment. Most notably are disc brakes - the 230 had (I think) 4 wheel drum brakes and the 250 got disc fronts with drum rears and the 280SL finally got 4 wheel discs brakes.

Hello all - After reading the W124 info page (great resource BTW) I decided to try to disable the EGR but instead of using a BB - which I thought would be difficult to get out if I wanted to change back I used a golf tee and a vacuum cap. I didn't think I'd be able to notice the difference -

[MBZ] Serpentine Belt Noisey - '91 300D 2.5T

The new Serpentine Belt I installed (purchased from Rusty) is noisey (it squeals) at idle. Since the tension is not adjustable and the WSM says to *not* use a belt dressing, what is the fix? The old one was quiet - it looked like it would break at any moment, but it was quiet. ;-) TIA --
