Dear list,
Could anyone tell me how a hollow meteorite might
form? I have come across a couple of references to
meteorites with internal cavities and cannot see how
this would happen.
Thanks very much,
Chris

Hello Chris and List,
Are you talking about stones or irons? Are you talking about
meteorites that are really hollow

Hello List,
I've just finished updating my collection with a few new specimens. For me,
this involves updating the database on the computer, printing out any
applicable information about the find (i.e. an ebay listing, journal
citation, etc.) and placing this in a notebook with the receipt. Then I
Hi Bernd, list,
Thanks for your prompt response.
As a folklorist and historian I have been surprised by
the number of weird meteorite tales I have found in
18th-early 20th century newspapers and books. I have
received many of these during the research phase of a

Mark,
VERY nice! I used to grow some white one's but grubs did them in. I
mostly have Black eyed Susans and coneflowers around the house with a
smattering of Sunflowers,Zinnias,Daylilies, etc. here and there. Planted
a few zebra grasses last fall. I have a couple of small burning bushes
too.
I never heard of hollow meteorites other than weathered specimens. I do know
that a few hollow tektites have been reported (tektites with very large
central bubbles) but those aren't meteorites of course.

Hi Chris All,
I have a hollow meteorite and wrote about it in both METEORITE
MAGAZINE (Brief in the news or a letter to the editor) and a full
length article in VOYAGE!
It was definitely, in my opinion, a case of weathering, with
the inner core being more subject to
Hi David,
It has been long established that dealers will NEVER agree
on anything. Don't take my word for it, search the List backlog.
Roman Jeraseck makes terrific IDs, however. Personally, I
do all my own on my own computer, so my collection looks
consistent. Doesn't cost a cent.

Looks more concave rather than hollow. Perhaps there was more pieces?

I thought we could see that as well. Does anyone have good
