My translation:
Desaguadero, Oct 11.
The Desaguadero police department will withdraw from
the zone in Carancas where the meteorite fell last
September 15th, informed Major Victor Anaya,
Truly a great a very nice man, he will be missed in
Tucson. Bacause of him, and Gold Basin, countless
members of this list found their first meteorite,
including myself, a 14 gram Gold Basin. He told me
where to go and how to hunt.

near the crater, about 500 meters is closest. They

I am truely saddened to hear this. Back in 1997 at my first (ucson show I met
Jim at Denny's for breakfast. Out of his pocket came several Gold Basin
meteorites and on his face was one of the biggest and proudest smiles I have
ever seen. One of those GB meteorites is still in my collection
This is sad news. I never knew Jim, but from I know of him, he was a kind
and generous man. His contributions to meteoritics were many but his
contributions to people were greater.

Jim Kreigh was a good and kind hearted soul who would do anything for anyone
