I think a top ten list would be much more effective.
There could be an overall 10, a beginner 10, an advanced 10, a historic 10,
a scientific 10, a representative (teaching) 10, or a personal 10.
But as Mike noted with:
“NWA 998 - very interesting Martian that holds it's value well.”
The subject
I believe Orgueil was the first meteorite suspected to contain life. And
also a good candidate for every list. 84001 would be the first for Martin
life however.
And I think Tucson needs no human help to get on a list. But if money is a
criterion then Lost City should be on the list twice since it
Barbotan?
Ensisheim?
Krasnojarsk?
Beginner?

Interesting point Mike. I think I was looped in on the stimulus for such a
reply as well. Been a few years.
But in reality, museums and even NASA make lists of display and collection
specimens. I can easily imagine ALH84001 landing on one of those lists.
Spending time with ALH84001 was on my bucke
Alh84001 is government property and if you have some it’s a bad bad thing.
So how could that ever be on a must have collection list?
