Hi Rob -
I suppose we have a saddening data set from Columbia.

You are thinking of the KH-12 Keyhole optical reconnaissance satellites here.
These would not be so suitable for tracking UARS however, being in Low Earth
Orbit and geared to make pictures of ground level.
However, there is a series of

I think we've got a good match -- looks like reentry would have
occurred around 21:20 PDT (24 Sep 04:20 UT) south of Calgary,
Alberta... If true, pieces should be recoverable. --Rob

Rob, others,
The video from Okotoks, Alberta, looks suspect. I have the same feeling as some
other people: a series of Chinese lanterns, not UARS debris. There is very
little evolution in the series of dots.
Could be wrong of course, but I have serious doubts about this report.

Dear List, A witness has just sent me her report of what may be the UARS
passing St. John Canada just prior to hitting in Alberta.

Marco and all,
So where did UARS come down? Was it southern Alberta or over the
Pacific. The NASA update says the latter.

Hi again,
Here are my land overflight reentry possibilities for 24 September
00:00-04:00 UT (Friday Night 23 September 5pm-9pm PDT, 8pm-midnight
EDT):
September 24, 2011 (UT)
00:05-00:06 Scotland 157 km
00:08 Denmark 157 km
00:08-00:10 Poland 157 km
00:10-00:12 Ukraine 156 km
00:14-00:15 NE
UARS reentry looks to be shifting slightly later, so I've extended the
ground track predictions out to 06:00 UT. Here are the latest
times/locations:
September 24, 2011 (UT)
04:00 Just east of Somoa 146 km
04:18:30-04:20 Washington state 140 km
04:20-04:24:30 Western Canada 141-143 km
Clarification:
Note that for those in Southern California, UARS should be briefly
visible low in the southwest (under Scorpius) rising around 7:44 pm
PDT
this evening and going into the earth's shadow only 2 minutes later
about 6 degrees to the lower right of Antares.
Because of the very low

Hi Bernd!
LOL! As long as I survive the hit to the head, I'll have the world's
second confirmed space debris hammer. Of course, I won't be able to
sell any of it because the Feds would swoop in and lock me up. ;)

With that said, there is a website called Heavens Above (if you do not know
about it you can Google it.)
You can sign in and input your coordinates and it will give you times and
the path of UARS.
Be advised that in these last final stages of its orbit, the orbit starts to
evolve so fast that
