I've received the same messages as well as a few from Paypal asking for
the same verification of user names and passwords. They're all fraudulent
scams, don't fall for them.

Dear Michael,
I get about two a day from the fake paypal account scammer and about
three a day from the fake ebay scammers.
I have voiced my opinion to my congressmen and senators to pass a law
permitting public hanging for such phony villians!

Hi everyone
A warning here, all the bidders on my recent achondrite and CO3.1 seem to be
getting fake emails today, telling them that the items are available for a
lesser price than the selling price.
These emails are not from me, and they don't even pretend to be, but they

I received some disturbing information today.
It is regarding the large flight-oriented meteorite that sold this week.
One of the losing bidders received an offer from someone in the UK who
claimed to be me, and who offered the person a second chance to buy it,

Here's a great and classic tale of an Ebay scammer getting what they deserved.
Hi Mike and all,
This has happen to a couple of my high dollar auctions also, as well as one I
bid on one time from another well known dealer. Not the same person but it must
be a way of scamming people as you said and it's good to put out a notice when
it happens with meteorite sales.

Ok, here is what I know, This person, ARVINDS, is

Dear Mike, and List;
This is a great example of why we all should support our dealers that we
know from the list here, other venues related to honest dealers, dealers
we know from shows, IMCA listed dealers/collectors and not venture off

Hello, Mike list,
I would just make something clear, the username 'dealernb' belongs
to a German customer of mine who has absolutely nothing to do with
this scam.
I just hope that this unblamished name has not been misused by these folks
as well.
I can only say that 'dealernb' from Germany

Re: [meteorite-list] ebay scamupdate
Hello, Mike list
Tom,
What happens when a meteorite collector discovers ebay? They go
bonkers! I've seen it happen many times. Sometimes they're new to
meteorites, in which case they often overpay. If he's new to
meteorites, he'll eventually find other venues to acquire meteorites. If
they already collect

Hi Tom and list,
I wouldn't worry too much about this buyer. I looked up a couple of his
auctions. Seemed that he was unsure of a ceiling bid and kept putting in more
bids on the same auction, essentially bidding against himself, (did that
myself the first time out).
He or she will learn. :-)
Hello List, Just a heads up (MAYBE) There is a buyer ( ddo9876 )on ebay with
no feedback buying hundreds of dollars on meteorites today. I wonder if he
is for real? Seems like every thing I looked at he has a bid on. And has
bought a lot of buy it nows.
Thanks, Tom

I subscribed once, ages ago, and turned the service off as I discovered that
it was far from free - it costs about $0.25 for each message.
