Doug and all
Hi All,
I think the real issue behind the Bessey Speck, and as to why the
moniker of Bessey should remain attached to such sized samples is
that Dean Bessey, to my knowledge anyway, was the first dealer with
enough gall to mass market almost-microscopic, almost comical,
individual samples of a
Indeed!! And the Bessey Speck moniker should also stick as Dean
reveled in his BSing ;-) and weathered a tsunami of criticism

Hi Ed and all,
Why not go to the local pharmacy and buy gelatin capsules. Small items
can be stuffed into those and placed in a small ryker mount along with a
label and description information at a fairly reasonable cost. I've done

What is the long(ish) term stability of gel caps? After all, they are designed
to dissolve. Wouldn't the normal humidity in the air cause them to eventually
turn to a tacky mess?
Doug and all,
This is closer - but to be truly a Bessey Speck a specimen
must be small enough to VERY, VERY EASILY fit in the smallest
sized gelatin capsule (they come in a variety of sizes) and should
be difficult or nearly difficult to see for anyone with less than 20/20
vision. Also

Yes, Bessey specks are of such extreme importance that
governments spend billions of dollars building special
equipment for the sole purpose of studying them
