We were at least 40 miles away from the nearest military installation that I
know of. Maybe I misinterpreted the jet flyby but it looked deliberate to me.
Possibly the pilot turned his head to watch the mountain side as he blasted by
us. In any case, it startled our group while climbing a
Hi List,
I had to dig a little deeper to investigate Adam's experience on the
hillside. I have a friend who works at Screech AFB. I contacted him to
go through the flight data recorders on the F 16's in Nevada. Here is
what he came up with out of Thunderjet 1. A lot of it is pretty garbled
Adam, since the day I've lived in Tucson I've watched A10s and F 16s fly from
the base here to go on maneuvers or bombing runs often over to Yuma, hundreds
of miles from here. I hardly think a plane that can fly hundreds of miles needs
to stay within 40 miles of a base.
Amazing here in Tucson
Yes let's end this thread on a high note; Great post Sonny!

Hi List,
In defiance of a certain Listee who always seems to have something to say
derogatorily whenever I post and the fact that my former mentor, Sonny, has

Which now that I think about it would be a interesting way to track people :)

That is interesting. My father served this country his entire life achieving
the rank of General in the U.S. Army when he was just 42 years old. He earned
both the Legion of Merit and the Silver Cross among his too numerous to count
other medals. I grew up around military bases and had to

No, we were not doing anything wrong and Dr. bunch was
extremely angry about being buzzed so close because it
startled all us and we could have lost our footing on the
steep slopes.
This is the first of my reading any of this thread and find it quite
amusing. Brings back to memory when I

Actually, the jet jockey was trying to get a better look at Zann who

Ah, FWS (Fighter Weapon Schools). Always a good show. Seriously, the day of a
pilot is filled with a LOT of stuff to do and not enough time, fuel, or
airspace to do it all.
Pretty much the entire state of Nevada is one big MOA. They can work any
