Mhonarc 2.2.0 , Perl 5.004_01
Is there a resouce variable for the number of messages in an
archive. I wish to put that information on my index pages. I have scoured
the documentation on resources and this does not appear to be an available
recource.
I have looked at the source where I find

true a BSD style mailbox, but MHonArc (V2.1.0 and V2.2.0) is happy with
parsing the new "mailbox".

BTW, if you are wondering, I used SCCS since I was not familiar
with CVS, and at the time, was the only common version control system
that I had access to. Much of MHonArc's development occured on
commercial Unix OS's before I ever started using Linux.

The tool you are looking for is called mhn2mbox and it is available at
http://www.albany.net/~anthonyw/archivedemo/testarea/mhn2mbox . This
software is still undergoing testing, but it has reached the level where
most (if not all) messages with attachements get
a test against the files in
http://www.albany.net/~anthonyw/archivedemo/default
The output is at

where mailbox.out is the output from the mhn2mbox script.
The new code is now version 0.36 and is available at
