I wouldn't be too worried. Mono is in good company.
Many other software vendors have advised their customers no to upgrade to Lion
before they upgrade their software:

Knowing this from other companies: When the vendor talks about beta features
publicly they don't care about their own NDA. But that won't release the NDA
from other beta participants.
