Does anyone even KNOW if the authorities have been engaged on this issue?
Even if it's just the local police department? A lot of people are using
FBI and the authorities in their emails, but are they really involved
and investigating anything???

I have regularly heard the word 'patina' also used by experts in
describing the finish of antique wood furniture, porcelain and all kinds
of other physical objects of art. Applying it to a poster is
questionable, but I suppose one could use it to describe the look of the
surface... i.e., that
Steve,
You are right on all points. In the past, after the outrage subsided,
things went on just as before. This time may be different for a couple
of reasons:
1) A *lot* more money was lost on these high-end fakes. Millions of
dollars by some accounts.
2) The reports coming out clearly
Do the FBI have experts on authenticating movie posters: I presume they have to
determine themselves, if it is fake or not, or do they have to go outside the
bureau to get help and if so who would they seek help from?

Hi Grey,
You mean his statement is untrue, specifically in regards to any loss
to Heritage?
If so, accepted.
Are you also denying fakes inadvertently passed through Heritage?
I wasn't clear on that bit.

On the other hand, I've always looked at vintage stills and photos as

Hasn't PIH been auctioning massive numbers of vintage stills of all sizes?
Hm.
Well, as long as they have been authenticated, I guess there is nothing to
worry about.

This has been a fascinating (and sad) discussion about the fakes, the

Sure, John at Poster Mountain screwed up. Having said that,
scrapping his authentication service is a huge mistake. His problem
is that he rolled it out too quickly. There were certain factors and

somewhere on this list, is the funding that will be needed. A
