Hi all,

I'm trying to use the unbending tool in tpsUtil, and after reading the help
of that program I realized I'll need a nts file that contains the LM for
the quadratic curve. But I'm not sure how do I get/create this kind of
file. Is it something I can create from my tps file using tpsUtil (or any
other program of that package)? I tried converting tps to nts - is this the
way? or maybe I can just edit a text file and eventually change its
extension to nts (as tps files can be read by notepad)? if yes, what is the
exact format I should make it?

Another, though more theoretic question: what are the guidelines or what
cases are suitable for using the unbending tool? I digitized extra
semi-LM's along a pigment on my tadpoles, starting at the tail tip and
ending at the eye. The pigment curve changes according to the body posture
(the curve is composed of 7 semi-LM's) so my idea was to unbend the body
according to the pigment after the pigment is straighten. Is it possible to
use the unbending tool like that? if not, can I unbend it using the pigment
in R (any of the GMM packages or else)? How exactly does the unbending tool
works: does it unbend fixed and semi LM according to the distance beween
the pigment curve and a straight line that goes through all pigment curve
semi-LM's? I'm not sure I got this.

Thanks,

Avi
