There were 5600 individuals of 47 species found by 14 observers on the Dec.
15 Fairmont CBC. This is a record high species total for the count. The
species found in the highest numbers was ... not impressive - 1218 starlings
(mostly from one feedlot).

On an unusually mild January day, 12 participants in the CBC found
fewer than usual number of species but a relatively high count of individual
birds - 37 species, 5468 individuals.
Starlings, house sparrows, pigeons and trumpeter swans were especially
abundant. We missed robins (why??), cedar

Around 4:00 this afternoon I witnessed a massive flock of 2000+
blackbirds flying north over Hwy. 22 north of Mankato in Blue Earth
County. The majority appeared to be Red-winged Blackbirds, but I'm
guessing there were other species present as well.
